Soft Felt
Namda & Soft Felt
Softer, lower-density felt for namda rugs, craft, liners and applications needing a pliable hand-feel.
The pliable end of our felt range
If hard cotton felt is built to hold its shape under load, this is built to do the opposite — bend, fold and drape without cracking. That flexibility is what makes it work for namda rugs, liners, backing and craft, where a rigid felt would just snap.
Made to feel, not just to measure
“Soft” isn’t a single number — it’s a combination of low density and fibre blend that we tune until it has the drape you need. Tell us the application and target hand-feel; GSM and thickness follow from that, in natural or dyed options.

Frequently asked questions
- How is soft felt different from hard cotton felt?
- Soft (namda) felt is produced at a lower density for a pliable, flexible hand-feel, whereas hard cotton mattress felt is high-density and rigid. We make both to order.
- Can namda and soft felt be supplied in colour?
- Yes. We supply it in its natural grey state or dyed to your required colour, depending on the application.
- What density range is available?
- Namda and soft felt is made at the lower end of our density range for a pliable hand-feel, and we tune it further within that range to suit your specific application — share the intended use and target drape and we'll recommend the density.
